Hello everyone who lives in a really cool place in California! This blog message is for you!

I am looking for a really cool city to move to in California soon! I need a change of pace. I currently live in what most people call paradise, but it's more like a retirement community with perfect weather. I'm looking for the perfect opportunity so I thought I'd reach out to all you google bloggers for advice, suggestions, and offers!

So let me tell you a little about myself and what I'm looking for. I am a single mother of one 8 yr. old who is very well behaved. I'm not into partying much, and I'm more of a homebody, but I would like to live somewhere where there are a few cool night clubs where I can catch some Punk shows and maybe a dark industrial club, etc. Plus, I love thrift shopping, yard saleing, and swap meeting! I'm looking for a town/city that has a pretty large punk and rockabilly scene, and cool places to hang out with people like that. It would really help if I already knew one or two people to help me get around, but I'm open to meeting some cool, mellow, honest, friendly people for sure! So can you help me out?

Here's more of a specific outline of what I'm looking for:

I am looking for a room for rent, or a roommate who is already established in a place that I could share in rental costs with as most of us are struggling to get by these days, as I am. I'd like my child to attend a safe school and live in a safe neighborhood, but I can't afford the Ritz by far - thus my need for renting a room or living with a roommate or roommates to help save funds.

I want to share a room with my child as rent is pretty high these days in California, plus I'd feel more comfortable having my child with me especially in a new situation. My child’s well-being and comfort is very important to me. My child is very well behaved and sweet, and would not be a pain in the neck to have around. It would be nice to room with another mother who also has a well-behaved child, but I’m open to a childless person as well, as long as they can respect and be kind to my child, and be willing to discuss any issues with me, and not my child, if they arise. I will deal with any issue appropriately, as I am not one who believes my child can do no wrong. I discipline my child only, and will not tolerate my child being made to feel uncomfortable or be disciplined by anyone else.

I am looking for an honest, reliable, working, and respectful roommate. No partiers, drug addicts, alcoholics, potheads, liars, thieves, mooches, jobless, or jobless every other week types need respond. I want a reliable roommate who works, or goes to school, and can pay their portion of the rent/utilities on time. NO freaks, creeps, lurks, drunks, druggies, etc., and that goes for the landlord to if I am renting a room from you. I am willing to discuss what I can afford to pay in rent with the right person.

I don’t want to deal with anyone who parties at home. I am up to going to a party once in awhile, or a show, or club, or hanging out with cool people at the house once in awhile, but I like my quiet time and I think of my home (or room) as my sanctuary where I come back to for serenity and peace, but I’m not opposed to having a good time at home once in awhile. I cherish my privacy, and if I can go to my room and not be bothered by my roommate’s company then that is cool too. I cherish my sleep at night as does my child.

I own my own Retro, Rockabilly, Vintage, Pinup & Punk Second Hand Store therefore, I need high speed internet. I would pay for that if it weren’t a shared utility that others would use. I also would rent a warehouse for my merchandise too.

Also, if anyone is looking for a roommate who would be willing to do the leg work since they already in a cool area to find a place that we could share, we could work out giving our 30 day notices at the same time and move in together, but the only problem with that is I won't get my deposit money for up to 21 days after my last day living here (by law) so I wouldn’t be able to come up with my part of the deposit up front.

So that’s what I’m looking for so if anyone fits the description, and isn’t offended by my criteria please respond to this blog to discuss this further.

Plus, I am open to any other suggestions you might have that would help me find a roomy please advise! Please no rude remarks - see my note to everyone else below...

I apologize to anyone who may have been offended as I do not think I am better than anyone! I am not! We all have our flaws, but I must be very frank with what I want when it comes to a living situation. Being a single mother I have to take my living situation very seriously. I spend almost all of my time at home – it’s where I live, eat, sleep, relax, and work, which means I’m home all the time, and having a private personality and being very mellow, I must insist on a good match to share such small quarters with. This is very different than looking for a friend per say. Although, I wouldn’t want a dishonest thief for a friend either, but as far as partying goes, I have no problem being friends with people who like to party! I just don’t want it at my home. I step out for that kind of atmosphere!
